Câu dùng thật

The first plan was so crowded that Mai skipped every review.

It was such a complicated routine that nobody repeated it.

There were so many resources that the goal disappeared.

The plan required so little time that Mai could repeat it daily.

Bẫy cần gỡ

Không viết so a complicated routine hoặc such crowded that. Phân biệt result ‘so difficult that…’ với purpose ‘so that we can…’. Một kết quả quan sát được vẫn cần thời gian và tiêu chí trước khi gọi là tiến bộ.

A fictional learner named Mai wants to improve English listening before graduation. Her first plan contains fourteen apps, six podcasts and a different colour for every day. It is such a complicated routine that she spends Sunday organising it and completes no listening task. A mentor asks her to diagnose one gap. Mai can identify the topic of a clear interview, but she often misses the speaker’s reason for changing an opinion. They design a smaller seven-day cycle. On Monday, Mai listens to one two-minute fictional interview and writes the first reason she hears. On Tuesday, she listens again, checks the transcript and marks the signal words. On Wednesday, she closes the transcript and retrieves the reason from memory. Thursday is a short transfer task with a new interview. Friday is review day: she explains both reasons aloud and records which signal helped. The routine requires so little daily time that she can repeat it after school. It also uses so few resources that she knows exactly what to open. After one week, Mai identifies the reason in three of four new clips. This result does not prove permanent mastery. She keeps the same cycle for another week and changes only one variable: the speed of the final clip. The mentor praises the evidence, not the colour scheme. Mai still uses a simple calendar, but every mark now represents a completed retrieval or transfer task rather than time spent decorating a plan.

A lifelong-learning plan is a feedback loop

Tìm GOAL–GAP–RETRIEVAL–FEEDBACK–SPACING–TRANSFER–REVISION. Gạch so/such…that và xác định kết quả thật trong câu.

Lifelong learning is easier to imagine as a feedback loop than as an endless collection of courses. The loop begins with a useful goal and a specific gap. ‘Improve English’ is too broad for one week. ‘Identify the reason a speaker changes an opinion in a clear interview’ can be observed and practised. The next step should be manageable enough to repeat. A plan may be so crowded that organising resources replaces learning. It may contain so many apps that the learner cannot identify which activity produced a result. Reducing choice can make the process clearer. Practice should include retrieval, not only exposure. Rereading a phrase may create familiarity; closing the page and recalling it provides stronger evidence of what is available from memory. Feedback then compares the attempt with a model, transcript, rubric or informed response. Spacing the next attempt over time helps the learner return to the idea instead of completing all practice in one sitting. Transfer matters too. A learner who succeeds only on the original example has shown a narrower ability than someone who can apply the strategy to a new, comparable task. Evidence must fit the claim. Time spent, pages opened and colourful notes describe activity, not necessarily learning. A short performance, explanation or corrected draft may reveal more. Even then, one successful day does not prove permanent mastery. The learner can repeat the measure, vary one condition and review the pattern. A sustainable routine is not always tiny, but it must fit real time, energy and support. It should be such a clear process that the learner knows what to do, what evidence to keep and when to revise the goal. This loop preserves agency: resources and tools support the learner, while the learner remains responsible for choosing, checking and adapting the next step.

Plan

  2. Observed gap
  3. Daily manageable step
  4. Retrieval and feedback
  5. Transfer evidence
  6. Friday review and one revision

Model • 200 words

My seven-day plan targets one listening gap: I can identify an interview topic, but I often miss why a speaker changes an opinion. My first schedule contained so many resources that the goal disappeared. The revised routine uses one fictional interview and one comparable transfer clip. On Monday, I will listen for the first stated reason. On Tuesday, I will check the transcript and mark its signal words. On Wednesday, I will close the transcript and retrieve the reason from memory. On Thursday, I will apply the same strategy to a new clip. The tasks require so little daily time that I can repeat them after school. On Friday, I will explain both reasons aloud and record whether the signals helped. Success means identifying the reason accurately in three of four new clips; it does not mean permanent mastery. I will keep the cycle for a second week if the evidence remains mixed. If the task becomes reliable, I will change one condition by using a faster final clip. This plan is such a clear loop that every calendar mark represents retrieval, feedback or transfer rather than decoration. I will review the evidence before adding another app or claiming progress.
