Tóm đúng ý rồi mới phản hồi
Trong round-table giả lập, Mai định nói ‘All young people in…’.

- V-ing clause, subject + verb
- past-participle clause, subject + verb
- subject in both parts must match
- use a full clause when time/cause/agent could be unclear
Câu dùng thật
Representing only her school group, Mai avoided a national claim.
Asked for confirmation, the speaker restated the point.
Sharing a common concern, the groups still proposed different actions.
Because meaning was unclear, they used a full clause instead.
Bẫy cần gỡ
Tránh dangling participle: ‘Reading the notes, the summary seemed clear’ sai vì summary không đọc. Không rút gọn nếu quan hệ thời gian hoặc tác nhân dễ nhập nhằng.
Nối phụ âm–nguyên âm và nhịp trong câu xác nhận
Ưu tiên người nghe hiểu rõ. Có hai mẫu Anh–Mỹ/Anh–Anh; giọng cụ thể phụ thuộc thiết bị, còn IPA và hướng dẫn khẩu hình là chuẩn đối chiếu.
Nối final consonant sang initial vowel: asked‿again /ɑːskt əˈɡen/, point‿is /pɔɪnt ɪz/. Giảm âm phần dẫn và nhấn từ cần xác nhận: If I understood CORRECTLY, your MAIN concern is ACCESS.
- asked‿again /ɑːskt əˈɡen/
- point‿is /pɔɪnt ɪz/
- MAIN concern — ACCESS
If I understood correctly, your main concern is access; is that an accurate summary?1. Nghe không nói. 2. Nói đè theo cụm. 3. Tự ghi âm và so độ rõ.

In a fictional ASEAN student round-table, three school groups discuss access to clear project instructions. No participant is presented as speaking for a whole country. Representing only her school group, Mai describes one local trial in which students received a short checklist before starting a task. She says that the checklist reduced repeated questions in that fictional class, but she does not claim that it would work everywhere. Arun, representing another invented school group, values the checklist but worries that a written format may exclude some learners. Listening carefully, the chair summarises his point: ‘You support clearer instructions, but you want more than one format. Is that accurate?’ Asked for confirmation, Arun says yes and adds that his group would test an audio option. A third speaker proposes translating every instruction immediately. Mai does not reject the idea; she asks which language needs have actually been identified in the simulated record. The round-table records a qualified agreement: the groups share a concern about clear access, but they have not selected one universal solution. They will exchange two fictional examples, test one alternative format and compare the same measure. Before closing, each speaker checks the written summary. One phrase is corrected from ‘all students need audio’ to ‘some participants may benefit from an audio option’. The correction makes the agreement narrower and more accurate.
- 1How does the chair check Arun’s view?
- 2Why is the final phrase corrected?
Hội thoại có mục đích
Mục tiêu: Tóm tắt–xác nhận–phản hồi mà không stereotype.
Vai: A: người điều phối • B: đại diện nhóm trường hư cấu
AIf I understood correctly, your group supports clearer instructions.
BYes, but we would like more than one format.
ASo access is the shared concern, not one universal solution. Is that accurate?
BThat is accurate.
AHaving identified that concern, what can the groups test?
BWe can exchange two fictional formats and compare the same measure.
A fair summary returns ownership to the speaker
Gạch SCOPE OF REPRESENTATION–SUMMARY–CONFIRMATION–CORRECTION. Khoanh participle clause và xác định chủ thể logic.
Regional dialogue becomes unreliable when one participant is treated as a complete national viewpoint. A student can report an experience from a school group, analyse a fictional case or share a personal interpretation. That contribution may be valuable without representing every learner, community or institution in a country. A fair round-table therefore records the speaker’s actual scope. Summarising another viewpoint is not a shortcut for winning the next turn. It is a test of understanding. The listener states the main concern in neutral language, asks for confirmation and allows correction. If the speaker changes a word from ‘all’ to ‘some’, that revision belongs in the record. Participle clauses can make the account more compact: ‘Representing her school group, Mai described one trial.’ The logical subject is Mai in both parts. ‘Representing her school group, the trial was described’ is misleading because the trial cannot represent a group. A past participle can mark a passive relationship: ‘Asked for confirmation, the speaker restated the point.’ Even when the grammar is possible, a full clause is better if the agent, time or reason might be unclear. Accurate summaries also preserve disagreement. Groups may identify a shared concern while preferring different responses. Recording a qualified agreement is more useful than manufacturing total agreement, because the next test can compare the options. In a classroom simulation, all institutions, records and quotations should be labelled fictional unless a reliable source is directly cited. This protects factual accuracy and keeps the learning task focused on language, listening and respectful representation.
1What does a fair summary return to the speaker?
2Why is the trial was described version misleading?

In a fictional ASEAN student round-table, three school groups discussed access to clear project instructions. Representing only her school group, Mai described a small checklist trial and reported fewer repeated questions in one class. Arun supported clearer instructions but wanted more than one format. Listening carefully, the chair summarised his concern and asked whether the wording was accurate. Asked for confirmation, Arun agreed and proposed testing an audio option. Another speaker suggested translation, but the group had not identified a specific language need in the simulated record. The final notes therefore recorded a qualified agreement: the groups shared a concern about access, but they had not chosen one universal solution. They decided to exchange two fictional formats, test one alternative and compare the same measure. Before closing, the speakers corrected ‘all students need audio’ to ‘some participants may benefit from an audio option’. Every school, quotation and result in this summary is fictional and does not represent an ASEAN country or institution.
